Ingredient Spotlight: Rose Clay | Uses + Skin Benefits

Rose clay is a type of naturally occurring, gentle clay that contains kaolinite. It's a very gentle clay that is suitable for sensitive skin. I love adding rose kaolin clay to our products not only because of how effective it is, but it gives the products such a beautiful, natural color.

A few benefits of rose clay are listed down below.

1. Exfoliating

Rose clay (and all other clays) are great for exfoliating and buffing off dead skin cells leaving skin feeling fresh, smooth, and rejuvenated.

2. Absorbs Dirt + Oils

Rose clay has the ability to absorb dirt and oils from the skin. Other clays (such as bentonite) can sometimes absorb a bit too much oil from the skin and are more suited towards acne prone skin. Rose clay is well suited for those with sensitive skin and absorbs oils without being overly drying.

3. How to Use

One of my favorite ways to use rose clay is with our Rose Clay & Hibiscus Face Mask

For normal skin- mix one teaspoon of the face mask with one teaspoon of water, apply for 5-10 minutes, remove and rinse well.

For dry skin- mix one teaspoon of the face mask with one teaspoon of honey, facial serum, or desired oil, apply for 5-10 minutes, remove and rinse well.

For an extra herbal kick- after using our Botanical Facial Steam, reserve and strain some of the herbal infused water and mix one teaspoon of the face mask with one teaspoon of the reserved water, apply for 5-10 minutes, remove and rinse well. This allows you to harbor the nutrients and constituents from the facial steam even more and apply them to your face with the mask!
